Job summary
Yeovil District Hospital is excited to offer the following vacancies for the role of ST1\2 LAS in various departments, Medicine , Paediatrics and Emergency Medicine
The vacancy is a full time, six month, fixed term position, from 6th February 2024 until 6th August 2024 and may involve some participation on the on-call rota; additional details of the working pattern for each position can be found in the Job Description, although full details will be available with the offer.
These are non-training posts and therefore not approved by the Deanery for post graduate training.
The posts are designed to offer experience to Doctors who wish to obtain or are working towards the MRCP qualification and are seeking to pursue career progression in Acute or Specialty training in the UK.

Main duties of the job
The role of the post will be to provide medical input to the units to enable the efficient and effective assessment and initial management of all cases. The post holder will support the Consultants who run these units. The ST 1/2 LAS will have day to day responsibility for patients under the care of Consultants. A Consultant led post, ward round will take place after each take-in day and one full ward round per week. The ST 1/2 LAS will take part in the teaching of medical students when they are in session within the department. (Yeovil Academy) Teaching will involve predominantly supporting their learning on the wards where they will shadow the LAS during routine ward activity as well as patient discussions in the outpatient clinic setting. Excellent library facilities are available. Although this post is to cover gaps in the GPVTS training programme this is a non-training post and therefore is recognised for training by the Royal College of Physicians, the Royal College of Paediatricians and Child Health or Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
