Are you a skilled and enthusiastic Pharmacy Technician looking for an exciting opportunity? Would you like to lead and deliver our training strategy for Technicians, Technician Apprentices and Assistants?
The post holder will be responsible for the development and implementation of a co-ordinated, highly effective Pharmacy Education and Training strategy for Technicians and Support staff working across all areas of the department, in line with GPhC and national standards.
We have electronic prescribing already integrated across the site as well as a newly refurbished department providing a modern and spacious working environment.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will review, develop and maintain core-training programs in collaboration with other Lead Technicians in line with service requirements and work closely with Senior Pharmacy colleagues to extend the boundaries of existing pharmacy technician and support staff training within the department.
This role requires excellent leadership and communication skills and will involve managing and supporting staff, as well as ensuring that training requirements are constantly met and moving forward to meet the needs of the Trust.
The role will require liaising with training providers, managing change in relation to regional and national education policy updates as well as maintaining and contributing to departmental policies and procedures relating to the training of pharmacy technicians and support staff.

This will involve overseeing, coordinating and supporting the following:
- Formal training programs for Pharmacy Technician Apprentices & Assistants.
- Working with other Lead Technicians to organise, develop and train staff in line with service requirements, ensuring that rotas accommodate the training needs of technical and support staff, to cover:
- Medicines Management modules
- ACPT (Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician)
- In-process & Pre-process checking and final Product Approval accreditation in the Chemotherapy production unit.
- Apprentices working towards Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications or equivalent.
The post holder will review, develop and maintain core-training programs in collaboration with the specialist area leads, including reviewing and updating existing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and the production of new SOPs as required.
Work with the Senior Pharmacy colleagues to extend the boundaries of existing pharmacy technician and support staff training within the department.
