Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Healthcare Assistant to join our forward thinking Critical Care Unit. We have some excellent opportunities for you to expand your nursing skills and be part of our proactive and friendly nursing team.
We would expect you to work in accordance with Somerset Foundation Trust Core Values to ensure asafe environment for Critical Care patients. Working collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team to deliver a high standard of care and to develop enhanced Critical Care skills in line with the unit HCA competency framework.
Main duties of the job
To work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team, supporting registered nurses in delivering high standards of nursing care.
The job is varied and includes tasks such as the setting up of bed spaces and stocking up.
We will expect the successful candidate to be able to communicate calmly with critically ill patients, their carers and relatives, both verbally and non-verbally in situations that can be challenging, unpredictable and highly emotive on a daily basis.
You will also be expected to become familiar with and responsible for ensuring safe use of ward / specialist equipment and to participate in the induction of new staff into the Critical Care Unit.
