Job summary

We are looking for a professional and enthusiastic Dental Therapist/Hygienist who is passionate about providing high quality dental care to join our committed Team.

Dental Therapists are registered dental professionals who carry out certain items of dental treatment direct to patients or under prescription from a dentist.

Dental Hygienists are registered dental professionals who help patients maintain their oral health by preventing and treating periodontal disease and promoting good oral health practice. They carry out treatment for patients under prescription from a dentist.

To provide comprehensive, clinical care and treatment to head and neck cancer patients who are pre surgery/radiotherapy and throughout their treatment, as well as some orthodontics patients (e.g. orthognathic and hypodontia).

Main duties of the job

You will be working as part of a friendly and supportive team with experienced dentists and nursing staff.

Full GDC registration is essential.

It is preferable to have experience in General Dental Practice, but support from experienced colleagues is available within the department. Continuous professional development is actively encouraged and supported.

The work will cover the duties as laid down by the General Dental Council Regulations, including all extended duties for Dental Hygienists and Therapists. This will include providing direct patient contact, including direct line responsibility for any emergencies, arrangements, and decisions during clinical sessions.

To support the Consultant in Restorative Dentistry and other members of a multi-disciplinary team with the management of Head and Neck cancer and other dental conditions providing dental hygiene care to a wide range of patients.

Diagnose and treatment plan within their competence, take, process and interpret various film views used in general dental practice.

Providing preventive oral care to patients and liaise with dentists over the treatment of caries, periodontal disease and tooth wear.
