Job summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and committed administrator to join our booking office for Podiatry at Chard Community Hospital.
The booking office administrator is a extremely busy and varied role requiring someone who is able to demonstrate the ability to cope with the demands of the services.
It is essential that the post holder is an excellent team player and has the ability to prioritise and manage all requests in a timely manner.
Main duties of the job
The booking office is proud of their efficiency and high levels of patient care, they provide all new team members with a supportive and friendly working environment to develop and grow knowledge and skills. The majority of the role is telephone based and the successful post holder needs to have excellent telephone skills and on occasion be able to deal with difficult conversations.The post holder will work closely with other administrative and Clerical staff and Podiatrists across the county.

Job responsibilities
- To register and process each referral promptly on the computer including diagnosis, referral date, name of referrer etc. having presented referrals to podiatrists for prioritisation when appropriate.
- To book and cancel clinics in line with pathways and rearrange appointments under guidance.
- To be aware that the majority of this work will contain detailed clinical/medical information and use clinical/medical terminology.
- To be aware that such material may contain sensitive or confidential information.
- To use a range of communication tools effectively including email, letter, telephone.
- To book patients appointments by telephone using the central booking function and to be aware that some patients may have difficulty in understanding.
- To deal with queries or complaints appropriately and to be aware of sensitive and/or complicated information.
- To communicate with the booking office Team Lead effectively and in a timely fashion to ensure that clinical diary capacity is used to maximum efficiency.
- To be involved in booking clinical staff training, appraisals and other non-clinical activities as required.
- To manage own workload with direction from the booking office Team Lead on a daily basis and to demonstrate the flexibility required to respond to interruptions and changing priorities.
