Job summary

The Cardiac Catheter Lab at MPH is looking to recruit one band 5 nurse on a permanent basis . Excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills are required, and committed team players with the ability to work collaboratively with other departments involved in delivering care to cardiac patients within the Lab.

The Cardiac Cath lab, Duchess Building at Musgrove and has 3 dedicated hybrid labs and a Day Case unit which operates as a radial lounge. We provide acute and elective coronary work for Somerset, performing over 1000 PCIs, including 250 PPCIs per year. We can offer our patients a range of specialist cardiac services from diagnostic testing and imaging, complex PCI including Shockwave, CSI, and Laser alongside a well-established CTO service. We also offer a range of pacing services from basic to complex devices (ICD/CRT &sICD) The unit is very forward thinking and consistently reviewing its practices to expand our clinical services and meet the needs of our ever-growing population. The unit completed a full system refurbishment in January 2021 which included 3 new fully integrated Siemens Artis Q Labs. We have recently introduced a new automated inventory/ stock control management system for the labs to ensure time can be spent where it is needed most, at the bed side.

Main duties of the job

Delivery of patient care on a daily basis, using the systems in place in the ward for a multi-disciplinary approach to patient-centred care delivery, which builds on the philosophy of greater involvement of patients and their relatives/carers by using the Trusts patient and public involvement strategy.

Experienced Band 5 post holders will also provide effective clinical and managerial leadership of a ward, in the absence of the senior and junior Ward Sister, which empowers staff to deliver patient-centred, evidence based nursing care. Authorised signatory of bank nurse/agency timesheets. May request authorisation of bank nurses and overtime under the direction of the Matron or Associate Director of Nursing.
