Job summary
We are recruiting for the following locations - South Petherton, Yeovil, Wincanton, Glastonbury, Minehead, Wellington and Bridgwater.
We would be very interested to hear from clinicians with a specialist interest in gynaecology who would like to become part of this new and exciting pilot in Somerset. We are looking to recruit multiple clinicians for sessional work who will be responsible for running post-menopausal bleeding clinics autonomously in the community & trust hospitals. During the consultation with the patient you will carry out a pelvic and vaginal examination, reviewing the ultrasound scan report, taking a full gynaecology historyand performing a pipelle biopsy if required.

Main duties of the job
Clinical review of women experiencing post menopausal bleeding (30 minute appointment) , which will include review of the ultrasound scan report, vaginal examination, past medical history & a pipelle biopsy if required. Once the biopsy is reported (if a sample was taken) the clinician will review the results, and either discharge the patient with safety netting advice, or upgrade the patient and refer into secondary care for further treatment.
6-8 appointment slots in a community or trust hospital, a telephone results clinic and admin time (location to be confirmed).
The ideal candidates will need to have an interest in women's health alongside the following skills & experience:
- GP with a specialist interest, registered nurse or an enhanced practitioner.
- Experience in taking smears.
- Ability to insert a speculum, assess the cervix and carry out a vaginal examination.
- Administer local anaesthetic.
- Ideally experienced in fitting coils.
- Ability to work independently in a community hospital setting.
