Job summary

The role forms a key part of the operational delivery of front line maintenance services, defect & breakdown response and Pre-Planned maintenance tasks (PPM). The role will act as the lead electrical technician/team leader for a team of electrical craftsperson's.

The estates team is a mixture of electricians, mechanical fitter, carpenters, painters and assistants that all support and work well together, they all have a great approach to work they do. they are all committed to the Trust and the Trust values.

Willing to learn new techniques and technologies that are supported by internal and external training as the service dictates and where applicable disseminate this training to the electrical team;

Supporting senior estates management, managers and Supervisors to deliver an effective operational maintenance service.

With a good understanding of the functionality and repair of the type electrical systems installed in a healthcare environment.

With a flexible approach to deal with unknown circumstances as and when they occur.

Main duties of the job

The role will involves supporting new and alteration works within the post holder's competency, skills and experience both during and to ensure we provide around the clock services in some cases this will involve working out of normal working hours.

The purpose of the role is to contribute to the delivery of an effective, efficient and economical day-to-day maintenance, new and alteration works to ensure the safety of patients, staff and members of the public and that buildings and services are fit for purpose.

Some of the main duties; but not limited to are listed list below; you may be required to carry out other duties related to estates maintenance services.

  • Support of maintenance supervisors work in accordance with the statutory requirements of Health Technical Memorandums (HTM's) on HTM 0602 LV, HTM 0603 HV, Washer Disinfector HTM 2030 (CFPPO - 101), Sterilization HTM2010, Medical Gases HTM 02 and Water Supplies HTM 2027 and appointed Competent Person for the Trust
  • To undertake relevant training to undertake and perform Competent or Authorised person duties (CP/AP)
  • Responsible for working safely under controlled conditions endorsing documentation to confirm instruction received and understood and that only tasks contained in the working instruction will be performed
  • Ability to maintain, test, diagnose, repair and calibrate advanced complicated and complex electrical and mechanical plant and equipment
  • Perform the duty of a Maintenance Technician/Electrical Team Leader
