Job summary

Somerset NHS Foundation Trust Talking Therapies Service, in conjunction with the University of Exeter, are seeking suitable candidates to train as a High Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapists, aiming to commence employment December 2022 ahead of the course start date on 9th January 2023.

Post-holders must be able to attend university as required, which will include up to four blocks of teaching of up to four days. Most teaching will be 2 days per week in conjunction with a minimum period of high intensity CBT clinical practice per week within the service. You will also be required to attend course induction days in Exeter.

This is a paid training opportunity over 1 year full time. The part-time option will be 3.5 - 4.5 days over 2 years, trainees will be required to attend university on Mondays and Tuesdays plus block weeks and work in service 1.5 days - 2.5 days per week.On successful completion of the training and BABCP provisional accreditation this will lead to a permanent role as a High Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (Band 7) within Talking Therapies - Somerset IAPT Service.

An essential criteria for entry to the course is either a relevant Core Profession or demonstrate equivalent Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes via a KSA portfolio (see below for more info on KSA). A list of acceptable core professions can be found on the BABCP website.Core Professions (babcp.com)

Main duties of the job

We are seeking a robust, competent and motivated individual who can manage the competing demands of academic work alongside a clinical caseload. Previous related experience will be of great benefit. The post is open to candidates without a recognised relevant Core Professional training or qualification who can demonstrate equivalent Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes via a KSA portfolio.
