Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and flexible dietitian to join our progressive community dietetic team. The post holder will work alongside the diabetes specialist dietitian and will also have a general caseload of community patients, and will be working mostly in an outpatient (clinic) setting with some home visits and remote working also.

This is an exceptional opportunity to gain broad clinical experience both within the specialist diabetes service and the wider community dietetic team. The post will provide an excellent base from which to develop your future professional career.

A car driver is essential as you will be required to treat people in their usual place of residence.

Main duties of the job

You will provide a dietetic service to patients referred to the Diabetes Intermediate Care Team. Service delivery will be via outpatient clinics, Structured Group Education as well as domicilliary visits as required. Providing training other health care providers may also be required according to demand and identified need.

You will also have a caseload of patients with a range of long-term conditions referred to the Service by GP's, Consultants, Community Nurses, AHP's and community hospitals as part of the general community clinic service. Domiciliary visits may also be required.

Essential

  • BSc Nutrition and Dietetics or BSc Degree and Post Graduate Diploma in Dietetics
  • HCPC registered
  • Car driver with access to a car for work purposes

Desirable

  • Post Registration training, Diploma of Advanced Dietetic Practice Accredited or equivalent
  • Experience of dietetic service delivery in a variety of different settings, including community work
  • Evidence of behaviour change or motivational interviewing skills
  • Evidence of excellent oral presentation and written skills.
  • Compassionate - Open minded, treats colleagues, patients, carers and relatives with dignity and respect.
  • Experience of working with clients with diabetes

  • Able to respond to unpredictable work patterns, frequent interruptions and changes in role during a usual working day and longer term.
  • Able to move/carry equipment, several times a day includes i) scales (3kg), measures to collect anthropmetric data ii)OHP projectors, screens, leaflets and written materials etc for training sessions and iii) a variety of supplements, cans, packets, cartons for practical demonstrations.(most cartons/cans weigh 200g each
  • Must be a car driver with a valid driving licence or have access to transport with appropriate business insurance in order to travel throughout the Trust, to meet the needs of the service.
