Wessex House is a generic adolescent inpatient unit for young people from the age of 13 years, up until 18 years of age. Wessex House has developed effective working practices with a rich and diverse therapeutic structure.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Wessex House multidisciplinary team as a Clinical Psychologist. The post holder will support the provision of psychological assessment and intervention as part of a multidisciplinary team approach to supporting the complex needs of young people within the inpatient CAMHS service.
Experience within a CAMHS service or other relevant provision, including working with children, young people and their families, presenting with a range of complex mental health difficulties is desirable.
Main duties of the job
Knowledge and experience of a range of models of assessment, formulation and treatment is essential for this post. In addition, offering supervision and support within the multidisciplinary team and across clinical networks will be an important part of this role.
You will have skills and experience of working in mental health and skills in offering evidence-based approaches that you will be able to share through direct clinical work with young people and families and also through supervision, consultation and training.

- Doctoral Clinical Psychology qualification or equivalent.
- Eligible for chartered clinical psychologist status.
- Valid professional registration with HCPC.
- Basic competence in core psychological assessment formulation and intervention skills.
- Competence in assessment and management of risk
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and policies and to children and young people (e.g. safeguarding children, The Mental Health Act, The Mental Capacity Act, The Children's Act, NSF, Every Child Matters etc.).
