Job summary

This post holder's role is an integral role within Procurement.

The post holder will be working as part of the Operational Buying team and supporting the Category teams and the Supply chain teams.

-The core function of this role is, purchasing goods and services for Somerset NHS Foundation Trust using the Centros purchasing system and GHX catalogue system. The role is a customer focused service putting patients first, in line with the Trust values.

The role will be based at Musgrove Park Hospital.

Main duties of the job

  • Daily respond to requests from hospital staff and suppliers for advice and guidance. This may be made in person, via email, or telephone and must be handled in accordance with laid down procedures.
  • Using e-procurement systems and the internet, source goods and services from suppliers and recommend the most commercially advantageous options to hospital staff and Procurement colleagues.
  • Daily contact with suppliers via telephone/email to obtain pricing information, delivery dates and stock levels on behalf of hospital staff
  • To employ effective catalogue management procedures. Maintain accurate supplier pricing data and maintenance of the GHX catalogue system.
  • Update, review and maintain supplier, product and customer data on the catalogue management system.
  • Ensure that appropriate products and services are set up correctly with accurate product codes and prices, ensuring contract information is added where appropriate.

Ensure telephones and e-mails are answered promptly by the team and matters dealt with in an appropriate and professional manner

  • Manage own work load in order to meet defined objectives and be flexible with the ability to alter activities and priorities as the need arises.
