Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join our team of highly motivated professionals, in a progressive department, providing high quality cardiology services to the people of Somerset.
We are looking to appoint a fellow in interventional cardiology for a period of 1 year with an option to extend to 2 years.
The department provides acute and elective coronary work for the whole of Somerset, performing over 1000 PCIs including 250 PPCIs per year. We have finished the redevelopment of our department and have 3 new fully integrated Siemens labs. We have a well-established complex PCI and full hybrid CTO service with access to all contemporary intervention diagnostics and treatments including Rotablation, Laser, Shockwave and CSI technology. Primary PCI is provided on a 1 in 6 on-call basis.
We envisage the successful applicant will achieve about 400 PCIs per year, including complex cases, as first operator.
Cardiac imaging services include on site cardiac CT, MRI and PET plus all echo services including pharmacological and physiological stress studies.
We provide a routine brady and high energy pacing service, with ablations provided at the BHI in Bristol

Clinical duties
Outpatient clinics take place at Musgrove Park Hospital, in the cardiology department. We envisage that the fellow will provide on average one clinic a week.
You will have 7 interventional lab session per week with a mixture of acute and elective sessions. This will involve CTO as well as complex PCI lists. We believe that during the year of training you should achieve over 400 first operator PCIs.
you will be an expected to provide support for our junior colleagues and helping out with the inpatient referrals to cardiology, however this will not impact your time in the cath lab.
