An exciting new Band 4 Job Coach opportunity has been created in the Mental Health Employment Service. New funding was identified due to the demand for the service and the successful implementation of the evidence based Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model.

Main duties of the job
Your new position will be a rewarding one which involves supporting clients of mental health services to find paid employment following the Individual Placement and Support model. Coaching in this model, peer support and regular supervision will be provided for the successful applicant, who will be joining a friendly Somerset wide team. This could be an opportunity for a band 3 or 4 with community mental health experience to broaden their experience to contribute to potential future career development.

To use the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model to work directly with an agreed caseload of individuals using the Trusts Mental Health services who wish to obtain paid employment.
To develop and maintain community networks that could assist service users in gaining and sustaining paid employment, including employers, statutory and third sector agency partners providing services such as on-the-job support, wage support, community employment programmes, work training, placement support, job search, CV and work preparation, benefits and financial counselling.
To plan and undertake a range of vocational assessments to assist service users to identify achievable vocational goals based on their transferable skills, aptitudes and job preferences.
To develop collaborative action plans to achieve their individual employment objectives.
To carry out rapid job search and job development activities with service users to identify suitable employment opportunities based on individual employment goals including job matching and job carving
To provide information on training resources, labour market programmes and career options.
To work collaboratively with employers, service users and external agencies such as Occupational Health providers to appropriately share information and advice and negotiate on adjustments and strategies to support sustainability of employment during recruitment processes and through in-work support.
Under the supervision of the IPS Clinical Lead to carry out a comprehensive employment related risk assessment and provide ongoing review of employment related risks. To use these assessments to inform collaborative risk management plans which may involve the service users family or carers, their employers, the wider care team and other relevant parties as appropriate.
To participate actively in Community Team meetings and other forums as appropriate in order to secure best possible outcomes for people who are or could be benefitting from IPS interventions.
