Job summary

We are delighted to have received investment into our Acute Occupational Therapy service based at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton.

Following investment into our inpatient service, we are seeking to appoint an inspiring and confident Occupational Therapist to provide Operational and Clinical leadership for the Acute OT service based at Musgrove Park Hospital.

This post holder will be responsible for the day to day delivery of the service but also will lead a portfolio of service innovation recognising there is much untapped potential for OT in this setting.

This role is advertised on a permanent basis as a job share. We are ideally seeking a working pattern of Monday-Wednesday however are open to flexible working patterns to support the needs of the service.

The service is well established and valued within the organisation; you will be supported by Head of OT and also be a member of our Somerset System OT leads group.

As an Occupational Therapy service across Somerset Foundation Trust we can offer roles in: community rehabilitation, acute wards, adult & children's mental health, learning disability, paediatrics and community neurology plus others.

This organisation can give you the opportunity to work in any of these areas with rotational roles and development opportunities.

The Occupational Therapy leaders across the county have developed a strategy which will inform and influence the delivery of services to the population of Somerset.

Main duties of the job

As the responsible management lead for the specialty area within inpatient services, actively promote a culture of care which reflects Somerset Foundation Trust's values and leadership behaviours.

Responsible for the delivery and management of the specialty, including clinical and non-clinical performance, governance, quality, financial accountability, and human and physical resources.

Ensure that the operational and strategic demands on services within the specialty are met. Within this framework the post holder is jointly accountable and responsible for the delivery of clinical services within the service, working in partnership with the relevant internal and external stakeholders.

The post holder may provide direct line management to staff across a range of professional backgrounds but predominantly Occupational Therapy.

The post holder will be expected to support in the Trusts operational escalation calls when appropriate to support service continuity and articulate Therapy position.

To be responsible and proactive for service development and the maintenance of an integrated approach to care in partnership with key partners (primary and secondary care and social services).
