Job summary
Due to an exciting expansion in service, CAMHS SPA are looking for a Specialist Practitioner (Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker) for Additional Needs to join their multi-disciplinary single point of access team team.
The primary purpose of the role is to ensure that patients with learning disabilities and/or autism and/or other additional needs who are accessing a Community Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services receive the highest possible standard of care.
You will become part of an established and dynamic team who are committed to providing young people in Somerset with access to timely mental health advice and guidance and pride themselves on getting young people signposted to the right level of support quickly and efficiently.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work as part of the Single Point of Access team triaging, screening and assessing all new referrals along with having specific responsibilities as a Specialist Senior Practitioner taking a lead with complex cases where there is a suspected or diagnosed LD/Autism/Neurodiversity:
The post holder will:
- Provide assessment, risk formulation consultation, and guidance in the triaging of all new patient referrals alongside the existing team.
- Ensure the availability of a comprehensive range of patient information, designed for and with patients with learning disabilities and/or autism
- Ensure that families and carers of patients with learning disabilities and/or autism are properly supported, informed, engaged and signposted appropriately.
- Develop and deliver an effective training strategy in relation to learning disabilities and/or autism to support the existing team
- Support the clinical lead with management cover as and when required
- Support the SPA Clinical Lead in the delivery of the service, ensuring it meets national guidance and local key performance indicators.
- To provide clinical supervision if appropriate and as required.
- To support students where appropriate and as required.
