Physiotherapist Band 5/6

Previous applicants need not apply

The Children and Young People's Therapy Service (CYPTS) are looking for a confident, highly skilled, enthusiastic and motivated Paediatric Physiotherapist to join our team.

The CYPTS comprises of Paediatric Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Speech and Language Therapists as well as Therapy Support Practitioners and Administrators. Four therapy teams work geographically across Somerset usually in clinics, schools, other preschool settings and family homes. We have a close working partnership with education and with health colleagues in both acute and community teams.

You will be based in the Taunton team as part of a larger CYPTS team of 10 WTE physiotherapists who work in four area teams across the county, ensuring evidence-based practice and equity of service. The team includes experienced therapists with leads in the areas of Respiratory, Rheumatology, Early Years and Neuro-orthopaedics.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will manage their own caseload of children aged 0 - 19 years with developmental, neurological, musculoskeletal, and other conditions, providing physiotherapy assessments, programmes and intervention plans. You will have an understanding of the complex long term medical, social and learning needs of the patient group including awareness of SEND and Education and Healthcare Plans.

A post in the CYPTS provides the opportunity to develop integrated working with colleagues from Occupational therapy and Speech and Language Therapy as well as on-going professional development as a Physiotherapist. Each locality team is managed and supported by a team manager.

About us

This post lies within the Families Division of the Somerset NHS Foundation Trust which combines community and mental health services across the whole county with acute services in Musgrove Park Hospital serving the west of the county. The post holder will become part of Taunton Team based in Taunton and extending into West Somerset but may, potentially, be required to work across the county as part of the larger team.

As an organisation, the NHS offers a wide range of benefits including flexible working, fantastic pension contributions, market leading annual leave allowance, career progression and regular conversations, not to mention our Blue Light Card and NHS exclusive discounts.

The benefits of working in Somerset include the idyllic countryside, with our areas of outstanding beauty and stunning coastlines. You will get to enjoy these perks whilst still only being a stone's throw away from bustling city centres like Bristol, Bath and Exeter and only two hours away from London.

There are excellent educational facilities in the area and, when compared to other regions, house prices are reasonable. You will be able to experience the best of both in Somerset, the countryside and the cosmopolitan - there is truly something for everyone!
