Job summary

We are looking for experienced mental health professionals to join our team as a Mental Health Practitioners. In order to apply, you would need to have an appropriate qualification and relevant mental health experience to work as a Band 6 practitioner in secondary mental health services. This includes Mental Health Nurse , Social Worker or Occupational Therapist. Full and part time hours are available.

Our Specialist Perinatal Mental Health and Maternal Mental Health Teams supports woman and their families during pregnancy and up to 12 months after baby is born who are needing support with their mental health. Preconceptual advice is also offered as part of our service. This an exciting time to join our team as we continue to grow and develop to deliver a high-quality mental health response to women and their partners in the Perinatal period including development of the maternal mental health team . This post is part of an established integrated multi-disciplinary Specialist Perinatal Mental Health team which promotes a dynamic and innovative way of working. This includes triaging and responding to referrals, conducting face to face assessments and offering or supporting therapeutic interventions working closely with other team members to provide a holistic and bespoke approach to every family on our caseload.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for the co-ordination of care needs, assessment, planning, and implementation of evidence based care to a defined group of service users and their carers within the service catchment area whilst under the guidance of senior staff. The post holder will provide professional advice and support to other agencies and members of the multi-disciplinary team.

This is a countywide community based post providing individualised assessment and care to women whose pregnancy or postnatal period is complicated by serious mental illness which reflects the Trust's policy to engage services users and their carers in all aspects of their care and treatment. The successful applicants will be given an area with in Somerset to work in to reduce driving . Whilst the admin base is in Bridgewater you will not be expected to attend Bridgwater every day.
