Job summary

The post-holder will be required to assist the Lead Trainer with training requirements to ensure that the Somerset Cancer Register (SCR) meets contractual obligations and promotes the benefits of the Cancer System and Remote Monitoring System (RMS) with all users. The use of web collaboration tools to deliver the benefits will play a significant role for the post holder. The emphasis of this role is to participate in the maintenance and improvement of face to face delivery, this includes webinars and supporting documentation e.g. lesson plans, How Do I Guides etc.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be required to develop and maintain a high level of knowledge of all SCR products in order to deliver face to face/virtual training and demonstrations to our users and potential new customers. A key element is to produce and maintain high quality learning materials such as How Do I Guides, User Guides, Videos and eLearning that complement the products. Strong communication and organisational skills are required. Occasionally the post holder may be required to travel to our customer sites.

The team is made up of over 30 NHS IM&T staff who have specialist knowledge about cancer. The professionals employed cover Analysts, Testers, Developers, Trainers, Business Support & Customer Support, all of whom work with clinicians, operational staff and policy makers, to deliver the SCR products.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Deliver high quality face to face SCR training courses or webinars for a range of healthcare professionals. These can be existing customers, potential new customers or stakeholders. Face to face delivery could be off site at customer or stakeholder venues the ability to travel to such venues is required.

Support the design, maintenance and review of high quality training materials for SCR products in line with standards (i.e. Training Accreditation Programme; NHS Education Training and Development Standards). These could be How Do I Guides; User Guides; Lesson Plans or notes for each software release.

Participate in product demonstrations for existing or potential new customers or stakeholders.

Update training materials in accordance with the Project Initiation Document (PID) for each release of SCR products. This includes capturing which materials require update/amendment and working towards deadlines to finalise and publish in line with release dates.

Analyse and utilise statistics of attendance and feedback of the training to present to management with recommendations for future development

Support the development of the Learning Management System (LMS) and the content therein for SCR products including eLearning, eVideos and other promotional and educational material.

Support the Lead Trainer and eLearning Lead Trainer as required in daily tasks and duties.

Participate in the testing activities for software releases for the SCR.
