Medical Secretary / PA

The closing date is 27 November 2025

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 4 Administrator to join the NHS England Highly Specialised Rare Disease Service for NF2-related Schwannomatosis (NF2), based within the ENT Department at Cambridge University Hospitals (CUH). This service operates on a hub-and-spoke model, with the Cambridge team providing central support to spoke services in Birmingham, Leicester and Nottingham, as well as to the wider East of England and Midlands region.

We are seeking a highly motivated and well-organised individual to provide efficient and effective administrative support to the NF2 Service. This is a specialised area within ENT, supporting patients with Neurofibromatosis Type 2 (NF2) -- a rare genetic condition requiring coordinated, multidisciplinary care.

You will work both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team (MDT), liaising with professionals within CUH and across the regional NF2 network in England. The role is integral to ensuring the safe and effective delivery of patient services, supporting communication, data management, and coordination across the MDT.

Main duties of the job

Provide coordination and administrative support to the NF2 team, including preparation for MDT meetings.

Offer telephone, email and message triage and redirection for patients, relatives and colleagues contacting the service.

Deliver PA support to the specialist nursing team and administrative assistance to other professionals within the NF2 and ENT teams.

Manage data collection and submission, including scan results and audit data for both local and national clinical review.

Contribute to the wider ENT secretariat as required, supporting departmental processes and communication.

We are looking for an individual who is:

Motivated, committed and flexible, with strong organisational and prioritisation skills.

An effective communicator, confident in working with patients, families and multidisciplinary professionals.

Proficient in database management and confidence handling confidential and sensitive information.

Able to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a wider clinical and administrative team.

Previous knowledge of NF2 is not required; comprehensive training will be provided.

The NF2 team is dedicated to delivering excellent care, improving outcomes and enhancing quality of life for people living with NF2. We welcome pre-application or pre-interview visits and discussions. Please contact the NF2 team to arrange this.

This post requires on-site presence and can support working from home for one day per week, after training has been completed.
