Job summary

Applications are invited for the post of Clinical Fellow Higher (ST3-5/ST6)/ Senior Clinical Fellow post in the Department of Hepatology and Liver Transplantation, commencing on 03 March 2026 for a period of 12 months, at Addenbrooke's Hospital, part of Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Main duties of the job

This post is geared towards furthering a career in Hepatology and Liver Transplantation with specific experience in HCC. This is available to applicants who are within or beyond Gastroenterology/Hepatology training who either:

(1) want time out of program to pursue a clinical interest (out of program experience: OOPE),or(2) who are at the end of training and want post-CCT experience in tertiary Hepatology and Liver Transplantation.

Please note that these posts do not carry Postgraduate Dean's approval or training recognition.

Full Registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council at time of commencement is required.

About us

The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC's Good Medical Practice (2013). Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.

A contribution to the HCC service is expected for the duration of the post. The Department undertakes basic, translational and clinical research in alcoholic hepatitis, HCC, NASH, cholangiocyte biology and PBC in partnership with the University of Cambridge and Cambridge NIHR Biomedical Research Centre. The successful candidates would all contribute to the Hepatology on call rota.

These posts are not normally accredited as part of a specialty training programme but could be used for purposes as stated above.
