The 'Virtual Pharmacy Homecare Service' have an exciting opportunity to welcome a Band 5 Pharmacy Technician into the team. The UK Pharmacy Homecare sector is growing rapidly, and the CUH pharmacy Homecare team currently manages the supply of medicines directly to the homes of over 9,000 patients.
We are looking for an organized, forward thinking and motivated Pharmacy Technician to join our dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a highly specialised patient cohort and various clinical teams including to name a few, Rheumatology, Dermatology, Gastroenterology, Neurology.
You will play a key role in the provision of specialist services: high-cost drugs, medicines optimisation and the management of clinical queries to help us to deliver and improve the quality of patient treatment and care. Maintaining the safe supply of medicines and treatment to patient's homes.
Homecare Pharmacy experience is not essential, as full training will be provided.
Main duties of the job
- Assisting with the existing homecare service and contributing to the development of new medicine / services to patients in their home.
- Ensuring the correct medicines and service reach patients in their homes at the correct time.
- Ensuring homecare supplier adherence to contractual obligations and existing service level agreements.
- Communicating with patients to resolve queries or issues they may have with the homecare service they receive.
- Working closely with the Pharmacy Purchasing Team.
- Using initiative to deal with problematic supply chain issues and urgent pharmaceutical orders in a professionally and efficiently so that medicines and services are delivered in a timely manner.
- Resolving potentially contentious payment and supply issues, involving sensitive information, with tact and persuasive skills.
- Liaising in a professional and courteous manner with patients, homecare suppliers, clinical staff, Pharma companies, clinical pharmacy staff and Finance.
- Assisting with the development of purchasing systems to ensure contract prices are maintained.
- Maintaining an appropriate level of skill to be able to deputise and or provide contingency cover for Pharmacy Procurement.
