Band 8a: Qualified Surgical Care Practitioner or Trainee SCP (Band 7)

We have an exciting opportunity for a trained surgical practitioner with robotic experience (Band 8a) or a trainee SCP (Band 7) to join our exciting robotic surgical team. As a trainee SCP you are expected to complete 3-year MSc SCP programme from an Accredited University. Full funding will be provided. We are looking for a robotically experienced SCP to cover multi-specialties including ENT, urology, gynecology, colorectal and Hepatobiliary.

The role will involve assisting with all surgical procedures with a focus on robotically assisted surgery. You will be involved with the care of the patient through their entire surgical pathway, from pre-assessment to post-operative care.

Main duties of the job:

Participate in operative procedures and aspects of pre- & post-operative care of robot-assisted surgical (RAS) patients under the supervision of the consultant surgeons

Responsible for the assessment, planning, diagnosis implementation and evaluation of care as an autonomous practitioner with highly specialized skills

Be involved in the strategic review and improvement of clinical services as appropriate through active participation with the multi-professional team

Be responsible for implementing a clearly defined integrated approach to patient care, encompassing new treatments and evidence-based care

Working in close participation with patients and their families to ensure shared clinical decision process

Main duties of the job

SCPs are expected to work under the 4 Pillars of Advanced Clinical Practice.

Participate in operative procedures and aspects of pre- & post-operative care of robot-assisted surgical (RAS) patients.

As an autonomous practitioner, as per the service needs, SCP will do assessment, planning, diagnosis, implementation, and evaluation of care with highly specialist skills.

Be involved in the strategic review and improvement of clinical services as appropriate through active participation with the multi-professional team.

Under the direction of the consultant surgeon, you will be working closely with patients and their families to ensure a shared clinical decision-making process.
