Job summary

The role of the Deputy Head of Financial Management is a seniorfinance manager with financial expertise, ideally related to internaland external Trust wide financial reporting, financial controls andaccounting infrastructure.

The Deputy Head of Financial Management will have a strong trackrecord of delivery, and be able to manage multiple processes,projects and drive change. The post holder will be able to lead andmotivate teams effectively, including those outside of theirmanagement chain, as well as building strong relationships with arange of stakeholders and partners.

Main duties of the job

The main foci of the Deputy Head of Financial Management are:

External Trust wide financial reporting to NHSE - understandingand explaining the drivers of financial performance in a complexfinancial environment to a range of senior stakeholdersInternal financial reporting and analysis - leading, developingand owning the presentation of detailed internal managementinformation which identifies issues and drives behaviour changeManagement of the general ledger - responsible for themanagement of all Income and Expenditure aspects of theGeneral Ledger (GL), including the development andimplementation of GL policy and procedures ensuring these areconsistent with external reporting requirements

The purpose of this role is to provide specialised financial control and focused financial analysis and support to the Chief FinancialOfficer and other senior staff. The post holder will be in a keystrategic position to enable CUH to respond appropriately to adynamic and complex financial environment. To this end, the postholder must show high levels of financial expertise, and excellentinfluencing and negotiation skills.

Experience

  • Substantial relevant proven experience of financial Management and Performance within a large organisation with a track record of delivery
  • Experience of working with financial management systems.
  • Relevant broad range of financial experience in a number of roles gained in complex organisations
