Job summary
An exciting post has arisen for an Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist with expert knowledge and experience to join the Hand Therapy team within the Occupational Therapy teams at Addenbrooke's Hospital.
You will be working within a friendly and supportive team, who have close working links with the wider MDT such as the Hands Consultants and dressings clinic, and who are focused on providing up to date evidenced based care, and who regularly work on local service improvement projects. Along side the Team lead, there is also a Clinical Specialist role who helps support the team, which includes other static roles and rotational roles and a band 4 and band 3 role.
We are looking for a motivated Clinician who is passionate about working with patients who require hand therapy input, including trauma, elective and cumulative conditions. Patients may require post op or conservative management, in an Outpatient setting. Treatments may include splinting, exercises, patient education, pain management, oedema management, scar management, use of therapeutic ultrasound, and functional rehabilitation. Sessions may be 1:1 or group sessions. There may be the opportunity to get experience seeing patients within the Consultant's clinic.
The work may include a mixture of working in the Occupational Therapy Outpatient Clinic and working from home.
Main duties of the job
Responsible for the provision of high quality, patient focused care.
Responsible for assessing, developing and implementing specialist therapy provision in the Hand therapy service.
Responsible for providing specialist advice, training and support to, and liaising with, other staff, team members and students.
You will be responsible for assessing patients using an Occupational Therapy bio-psycho-social approach for individual sessions, and will treat patients with conditions including tendon and nerve injuries, fractures, dislocations, soft tissue injuries, and post op elective care.
You will be able to effectively and creatively carry a full caseload without direct supervision whilst developing supervisory and project / service delivery skills. Working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team and Occupational Therapy Department.
