We are moving to a brand new department early 2025 and are looking to expand our workforce significantly before that move.

Cambridge University Hospitals Histopathology department is one of the largest in the country with over 130 non-medical staff supporting over 50 consultant Histopathologists. There is site specific reporting and we support many regional and national programmes.

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our team, as a Senior Administrator, providing comprehensive administrative and secretarial support to the Histopathology department.

Main duties of the job

Provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to members of the Histopathology consultant team, junior medical staff, and the administrative/laboratory management staff.

Prioritise workload according to departmental requirements and participate in the processing of the daily administrative tasks.

Respond to a wide variety of incoming email & phone queries, adhering to departmental guidelines regarding data protection, and patient confidentiality.

Assist and support administrative staff with their queries and supervise junior staff members when required.

Line Management of staff including the conducting of annual appraisals and regular 1:1s.

  • Educated to A-Level or NVQ Level 3 Customer Service/Business Admin/ITQ or equivalent.
  • GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English & Maths.

Desirable

  • Team leader/management qualification.
