Job summary

Are you a team player with a willingness to learn? Do you have a good eye for detail to help Sterile Services provide an efficient service to support patient care?

As part of the Sterile Services Team, you will undertake the decontamination of a range of reusable medical instruments.

The current opportunities available are for the 0600-1400 shift. These posts require rotational weekend (1 every 6 weeks) and Bank Holiday working (1/2 a year depending on Bank Holidays allocated). Experience in decontamination is not essential as training will be given in all aspects of the role. Good literacy and numeracy skills are required and knowledge of basic IT would be helpful.

This role will progress to Band 3 on completion of successful competency assessments.

Main duties of the job

To undertake the decontamination of reusable medical devices, including the operation of equipment such as washer disinfectors, autoclaves and endoscope washer disinfectors.

Provide a high standard of service delivery, promoting good team work including the organisation of production activity between fellow Technicians within particular sections of the department to ensure that the needs of user departments are met.

To assist in the provision of a positive learning environment and promote the wellbeing of all members of sterile services personnel.

Bring to the attention of Team Leaders and other members of the management team any issues that may adversely affect the provision of a high quality decontamination service.
