Job summary
The NCCU is a 27 bedded Intensive Care Unit catering for level 2/3 patients. We are a tertiary referral centre for all patients requiring specialist neuro intensive care for any form of brain, spinal or neurological injury as well as all major trauma care from across the East Anglia region.
The NCCU is a central component of the Major Trauma Centre based at Addenbrooke's Hospital. We are also renowned for state of the art cerebral monitoring and Positron Emission Tomography facilities for critically ill patients.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and highly motivated clinical leader to join our established senior nursing team. We seek an experienced critical care nurse with proven leadership and managerial qualities to work within the senior team maintaining standards of excellence in a fast moving and dynamic and environment.
We offer a dedicated practice development team and access to numerous opportunities to develop and excel in this role. NCCU is only one part of the Critical Care department within Addenbrooke's Hospital. It is imperative that a close and collaborative working relationship is instilled in your practice so all critically ill patients receive the best possible care.
You will be required to carry the critical care bed coordinator bleep and your responsibilities will include optimisation of patient transfers to the ward areas ensuring transfers are safe and all patients are ready for the next step in their rehabilitation.
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for the management and co-ordination of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure that critically ill patients and families receive an optimum level of safe, effective care.
You will also be responsible for leading and developing nurses and nursing practice within the NCCU
