An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 8a Deputy Laboratory Manager to join our Immunology laboratory at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS FT.
Our Consultant Immunologist lead service is one of the largest in the U.K. The laboratory offers a comprehensive and expanding Immunology service including the areas of autoimmune serology, allergy, immunochemistry, cellular immunology and is a Regional centre for Immunodeficiency.
This is a key leadership role with a strong focus on service development, resilience and innovation. With support from the Laboratory Manager, Senior Scientific team, Training Lead, and Quality Lead, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of patient care.
As Deputy Laboratory manager you will be involved in analytical, interpretative, and teaching activities of the department. As part of the Senior team you will have responsibilities for ensuring HR policies and procedures are effectively managed within Immunology.
To apply you should be a HCPC registered Healthcare Scientist (Clinical or Biomedical) with FIBMS, Immunology MSc, IBMS HSD or equivalent. You will have considerable practical experience in the major fields of laboratory Immunology from a senior scientific role.
You will be able to demonstrate leadership, organisational and communication skills alongside knowledge of current NHS Pathology and management issues.
Main duties of the job
Lead, manage and support to ensure continuing delivery of a comprehensive, high quality Immunology service
Manage and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the Immunology team
Participation in the organisation of training, development, competency assessment and supervision of all Immunology staff.
Manage and support with service improvement
Manage and support with laboratory IT changes in collaboration with Pathology IT manager
Manage, supervise and motivate a team of Healthcare Scientists and support staff.
To support and deputise in the absence of the Immunology Laboratory Manager.
