Job summary

We are recruiting a Nursery Nurse based on Ward C3.

Ward C3 cares for children from 0-16 years and is a Medical and Surgical Ward encompassing a number of specialties including Gastroenterology, Surgery and Neurology. Children are admitted for short term treatment and recovery through to long term stays.

As a Play Team Nursery Nurse, you will join a well-established and valued Play Team, working across Children's Services. We are a proactive team, determined to provide quality intervention and find the best solutions for patients, families and those we work alongside.

You will be a qualified Early Year's Practitioner with significant post qualification experience and be able to organise, supervise and support children to access play activities, individually and in groups, according to their individual needs and as part of their overall care plan. You will also make up milk feeds as required.

The Play Team work together to maintain and develop a range of projects to enhance the service across Children's Services as well as within their own areas, sharing ideas and resources to deliver positive experiences for children, young people and families.

Main duties of the job

  • To maintain a safe, child-focused environment where play occurs naturally.
  • To provide play for normalisation for children attending hospital as Inpatients or Outpatients.
  • To document play interventions.
  • To use knowledge of child development when selecting play activities.
