Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for an for a highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills to join our team as a Sister/Charge Nurse on C4 at Cambridge University Hospitals. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about older peoples care.

C4 is a 30 bedded acute medical ward, with 10 monitored beds and specialises in the care of older person. You will work cohesively with members of the multidisciplinary team to provide safe and holistic care to this complex patient group.

Supported by the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse and Matron you will work collaboratively as part of the Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse team to ensure the smooth running of the ward. You will act as a role model for the trust values, set a standard in providing exceptional patient care and assist the Senior Sister in delivering targets set for the ward.

We can offer you the opportunity and support to develop your management and leadership skills and also develop your knowledge and skills in caring for the older adult and in all aspects of discharge planning.

This post involves a full range of shifts including nights and weekends and will require participation in the divisional nurse bleep holder rota.

Main duties of the job

As a Charge Nurse/ Sister you will be instrumental in ensuring the application of effective clinical practice of all staff so patients receive the highest possible standard of care. Ensure that care delivered to patients within the ward is monitored and within expected standards of care.

Collaboratively work with the multi-disciplinary team to ensure that standards of care are consistently maintained.

Provide expert clinical advice to ensure appropriate treatment and care is delivered to the patient at all times

An emphasis on the role is not only managing areas of the department but supporting the Senior Sister in the management of staff and the wider division.
