Lead Diabetes Specialist Nurse

Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a clinical nurse specialist with advanced clinical skills and extensive experience in the diabetes field to join our team.

Alongside the current lead in diabetes you will provide management and leadership to the diabetes specialist nursing team. You will be a confident, committed clinical leader who is driven by challenges and demonstrates personal resilience.

You will have experience of service redesign and audit, and will be expected to lead on the roll out of hybrid closed loop therapy and the Type 1 service alongside other lead clinicians in the multi-disciplinary team.

The role maintains clinical duties. As a clinical nurse specialist with advanced skills in diabetes management you will be expected to be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementing and evaluation of care, as an autonomous practitioner.

Main duties of the job

Support current clinical lead with management and leadership responsibilities of the diabetes specialist nursing team.

Be responsible for the assessment, planning, diagnosis, implementation and evaluation of care, as an autonomous practitioner with highly specialist skills in all aspects of diabetes management with a focus on Type 1 diabetes and technology.

Be involved in the strategic review of clinical services as appropriate

Be responsible for implementing a clearly defined integrated approach to patient care encompassing new treatments and evidence based care

Lead on the implementation of the hybrid closed loop roll out and Type 1 diabetes services in conjunction with current dietetic clinical lead for diabetes.
