Job summary

We are looking for highly motivated and passionate Diagnostic Radiographers to join our General X-ray Imaging team at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

We are a diverse team of clinical and non-clinical staff who provide a high quality, patient focused diagnostic radiology service. We are a friendly inclusive team with a great skill mix which helps us support each other to provide excellent diagnostic facilities.

Newly qualified Radiographers (or students due to qualify in 2024) are encouraged to apply, as well as more experienced Radiographers.

As a new member of the Radiographic team, you can be assured you will be supported and developed in your role. All Radiographers new to the Trust complete a preceptorship programme and are supported by the senior team, mentors and Lead Education Radiographer.

Main duties of the job

  • To perform a range of diagnostic radiographic procedures, as required throughout the department, and maintain associated records.
  • To supervise, assist and train Student Radiographers and assistant staff in both the delivery of the service and their individual development needs.

Job responsibilities

As a world-renowned hospital, there are many opportunities to develop your career. CUH are proud to have a team of Advanced Practice Radiographers who specialise in MSK reporting, chest and abdominal reporting, Barium Swallows, HSGs, and Lithotripsy.

Once you have completed your preceptorship period, you will rotate through the many Imaging areas within the department.

Outpatient X-ray - 4 GE X-ray rooms and one Siemens x-ray room - imaging around 200 patients a day.

Vascular Access - one Siemens Connect C-arm covering screening for line positions.

Inpatient X-ray - 2 GE X-ray rooms, 2 Philips C-arms covering Endoscopy and 2 Siemens Connect C-arms covering Urology Theatres.

A&E X-ray - 1 Siemens X-ray room, one Xograph X-ray room, 2 Samsung mobiles, 6 Fujifilm mobiles and one Carestream mobile. One Planmeca OPG machine.

Fluoroscopy - 1 Siemens Artis Zee fixed Fluoroscopy room.

Main Theatres - 23 theatres with 11 Siemens C-arms.

Surgical Movement Hub - 3 Theatres with 3 Siemens Flow C-arms, one GE fixed room and 1 Wolverson Proslide mobile machine.

Dental X-ray - Carestream - intraoral, OPG, ceph and CBCT machine.

CUH provide an X-ray service to satellite hospitals in Saffron Walden and Ely. You will be based at CUH, but may be required to work offsite at these locations.

The X-ray department provides a 24 hour emergency service and operates an out of hours shift system. Radiographers are contracted to work a variety of shifts including evenings, nights, weekends and Bank Holidays.
