The Deakin Centre (Clinical Skills Unit) at Cambridge University Hospitals Trust is seeking applications for the position of Clinical Skills Tutor.
An exciting opportunity presents itself to join a progressive and cutting-edge Trust in a picturesque setting, where you can really make a difference. For this reason, the Clinical Skills Unit seeks to hire a highly motivated, well-organised individual to fill the position of Clinical Skills Tutor.
As a Clinical Skills Tutor, you will work closely with the Unit Manager and the Senior Clinical Skills Tutor and will deliver clinical skills training to undergraduate medical students studying at Cambridge University.
The medical program is a spiral curriculum that aims to provide excellent standards of practice based on NICE guidelines, Trust policies, and research into best practices.
Our programmes use medical simulators and involve working with simulated and real patients. Experience in simulation would be advantageous.
You should have current clinical registration with a health professional body. You must have a broad range of clinical skills such as venepuncture, cannulation, catheterisation and ABG and possess proficient communication and presentation skills.
You may need to travel to our partner hospitals for training and educational programs.

Main duties of the job
- Responsible for the provision of high quality teaching and curriculum support for undergraduate medical students in training at, Cambridge University Hospital (CUH). Occasionally this might require working at regional partner hospitals within the East of England geographical location.
- Deliver curriculum expectations including assessing, design and facilitating practical skills, communication and facilitation of core curriculum.
- Provide direct supervision of clinical students whilst they undertake the transition of learning from a simulated / practical skills lab environment into the clinical setting. At all times ensuring that patient safety remains the paramount concern; reporting any concerns to an appropriate supervisor.
- Provide support for students where needed including assessment criteria and clinical support.
- Coordinate, deliver, monitor and audit the safe and effective involvement of patients in medical student teaching and learning activities.
- Work collaboratively as a member of the core network with regional clinical skills ensuring support and communication are maintained.
