Job summary

Are you an experienced Moving and Handling champion who is ready for a new challenge or do you have a passion for supporting our staff in delivering safe care to our patients?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Moving & Handling Clinical Manager to work within our team. You will be joining a proactive team, who support all staff across the site in Clinical Practice to develop the essential skills required to achieve a quality of care.

Main duties of the job

To work across CUH Trust promoting high quality education and support both clinically and educationally for moving and handling.

Facilitate the mandatory training programmes to meet statutory and mandatory requirements.

Plan, implement and evaluate Trust wide Moving and handling learning programs for learners to enable competent evidence based moving and handling practice.

Work collaboratively in the delivery and evaluation of clinical skills, eLearning and training programmes to meet Trust priorities for newly appointed and existing staff.

Undertake risk management linked to clinical practice, education and training.

Essential

  • Diploma or degree in Allied Health professions or Nursing (HPC or NMC Registered)
  • ROSPA in Safer Handling of people/ Back Care and Manual Handling
  • Nationally recognised teaching qualification
  • ILM or management qualification

Desirable

  • Member of National Back Exchange

Experience

Essential

  • Experience as a Band 5/6 practitioner within the NHS
  • Extensive experience and knowledge in relation to Moving and Handling techniques
  • Experience of coordinating people and teams
  • Experience of current/research based moving and handling techniques
  • Link trainer within the acute setting
  • Experience of collating and analysing data in reference to moving and handling statics and HSE publications

Desirable

  • Experience of supervising staff
  • Experience in the management of change in healthcare

Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge of the legal and ethical issues related to moving and handling risk assessments
  • Significant knowledge of moving and handling best practice in accordance to the NBE
  • Risk management of personal safety including staff and patients
