Job summary

Applications are invited for the post of Clinical Fellow Higher (ST6+) CESR preparation programme in Anaesthesia and ICM, based at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge, UK.

These posts are available from 07 February 2024 for 36 months.

Main duties of the job

The 36-month fellowship program in Anaesthetics and Intensive care is aimed at applicants who are planning to apply for equivalence through the CESR process for Anaesthetics. Subject to additional availability of posts there may be an option for an abbreviated rotation. The clinical & non-clinical components of the program modules mirror the GMC and Royal College of Anaesthetists requirement for CESR equivalence.

The successful candidates will join an expanding, innovative and dynamic department of 80 substantive Consultants, along with EoE trainees, senior clinical fellows, CESR fellows and clinical fellows in providing anaesthetic services in this thriving modern teaching hospital.

Please note that these posts do not carry Postgraduate Dean's approval or training recognition.

Although this is not a recognised training post, the programme is supported by the Health Education England for the necessary funding for courses and support for an annual ARCP like assessment for CESR training.

Applicants should be fully registered with the GMC and have an FRCA or equivalent qualification which allows them to work in the UK at the time of application. A desirable criteria is to have at least 1 years anaesthetic experience in the UK.

About us

The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC's Good Medical Practice (2013). Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.

Applications from job seekers who require skilled worker sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. For further information please visit the UK Visas and Immigration website.

It is a requirement for skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, to present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement.
