Job summary

Applications are invited for the posts of Locum Consultant in Acute Paediatrics at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

We are looking for two part-time Acute Paediatricians, to join our Acute Paediatric team:

  • Post 1: To commence as soon as possible for 12 months (7 PA).
  • Post 2: To commence as soon as possible for 6 months (5 PA).

These posts have arisen due to changes in current job plans and it is anticipated that a substantive post will be created.

Acute and General Paediatricians are at the heart of safe and effective care for children and adolescents. By joining us, you will enhance our Acute Paediatrics team who are dedicated to promoting excellence in acute and ambulatory care for children in the Cambridge region. We aim to ensure that CUH is the leading centre for Acute and General Paediatric training across the eastern region and nationally.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidates will share our enthusiasm for continuous improvement, excellent care and job satisfaction.

Both posts carry an on-call commitment which is weighted to weekdays with minimal weekend cover.

The clinical commitments include Acute Consultant of the week, outpatient clinics, weekday on-call which includes on-site support until 22:00 followed by on-call duties from home and occasional weekends.

You will be fully registered with the GMC and ideally have a CCT or be within six months of award of CCT at the time of interview. Applications are welcomed from those unable to work full time for personal reasons or those wishing to job-share.

About us

The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC's Good Medical Practice (2013). Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.
