Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is an Equal Opportunities Employer.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will join a team of 20 Consultant Ophthalmologists at an exciting time of new development and investment in the Department of Ophthalmology at Addenbrooke's Hospital.
The medical retina and uveitis services have undergone rapid expansion following the introduction of new treatments. These services are co-located in the same clinic which enables close collaboration. There is an integrated retinal imaging suite providing fundus photography, fluorescein angiography, ICG angiography and OCT imaging. There is a dedicated outpatient treatment room for intravitreal injections. There is a well-developed multidisciplinary team approach for patient care, including specialist nurses to support immunosuppression.
The successful applicant will be expected to support the medical retina and uveitis services. There is potential to adapt this post depending on the successful applicant's sub-specialty expertise (including medical retina without uveitis), in accordance with service needs of the department. The successful applicant will not be required to participate in the consultant on call rota.
You will be fully registered with the GMC and ideally have a CCT in Ophthalmology or Medical Ophthalmology or be within six months of award of CCT at the time of interview. Applications are welcomed from those unable to work full time for personal reasons or those wishing to job-share.
