Job summary
Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology with G(I)M (10 PAs) at Addenbrooke's Hospital, part of Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This represents a phase of significant expansion in the Clinical Endocrinology service and offers an exciting opportunity to consolidate and further develop Specialist Endocrinology in Cambridge.

Main duties of the job
The appointee will contribute to all areas of the Endocrine service. In addition, we envisage the successful candidate will play a significant role in the development and expansion of our adrenal, pituitary and reproductive endocrine services. The appointee will be expected to contribute to in-patient duties, which includes some general medical patients, but not to the general medical on-call rota.
The successful applicant will have the ability to offer expert clinical opinion on a range of endocrine problems and will be involved in teaching and training of junior staff, medical students and other healthcare professionals. Working on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus also offers unrivalled opportunity to collaborate with Cambridge University and other local research institutes and pharmaceutical companies, as the campus continues its rapid expansion and consolidates its position as one of Europe's leading centres of biomedical research. The appointee will be particularly encouraged to contribute to or lead translational and clinical research using the excellent clinical research facilities allied to the Institute of Metabolic Science within the adjacent Cambridge Clinical Research Centre.
You will be fully registered with the GMC and ideally have a CCT in Diabetes & Endocrinology or be within six months of award of CCT at the time of interview. Applications are welcomed from those unable to work full time for personal reasons or those wishing to job-share.
About us
The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC's Good Medical Practice (2013). Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.
