Senior Sister/ Senior Charge Nurse

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent post for Band 7 Senior Sister/Charge Nurse to join G2 our Frailty Assessment Unit for patients ages 75 years and over.

This is an ideal opportunity for a motivated individual with proven leadership experience at either Band 6 or 7 to provide strong leadership in a fast paced dynamic unit and continue with the future development of the unit.

You will need to have a focus on high quality of care and optimising flow through the unit.

You will be expected to maintain high standards of care, meeting national and local standards with regards to quality, safety and length of stay within the unit. You will be expected to promote innovative thinking and provide inspirational leadership and managerial support to all members of the multidisciplinary team.You would be responsible for the day to day running of the ward.

This will include maintaining safe staffing through effective roster management; managing the budget; managing sickness and absence, HR issues; and coaching and developing staff and students.

Main duties of the job

  • To lead and coordinate a multidisciplinary team to ensure an optimum level of safe and effective patient care within budgetary resources
  • To assess care needs, to develop, to implement and evaluate programmes of care
  • To be responsible for all aspects of staff management and recruitment in line with HR policy
  • To participate in a full range of shifts, including Trust and Unit bleep holder rotas, ensuring a visible presence in the ward area
  • To be responsible for all aspects of clinical governance and risk management within the ward area
