Main duties of the job
This post is part of the CCRC, comprising of Clinical Research Facilities located in 2 buildings:
- Clinical Investigation Ward (adult day case clinical trials);
- Clinical Research Facility (paediatric & adult clinical trials);
- Interventional Procedures Unit (research endoscopy);
- Early Phase Unit (adult clinical trials);
- Translational Research Facility and observational unit: (inpatient metabolic studies);
- Adult Clinical Research Facility (inpatient trials & studies).
CCRC provides state of the art inpatient, day case, outpatient and specialist research facilities to support patients and healthy volunteers participating in complex, high intensity, translational research developed by globally leading investigators on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. Funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), CCRC facilities operate 24/7.
The functions of this role are:
- To provide skilled nursing care to ensure the safe and efficient running of research studies within the facility. This post involves ad hoc nights or weekends and bank holidays depending on service needs.
- -To be responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of care, using agreed frameworks during research studies.
- To participate in the co-ordination of research studies within the CCRC and provide research skills and clinical care for patients undergoing investigations.
