Job summary
The Resilience Officer will support the delivery of the emergency preparedness, resilience and response (EPRR) programme to ensure that the Trust is prepared to respond to a range of incidents.
In addition, being the subject matter expert in relation to chemical, biological, radiation and nuclear (CBRNe) events and the Trust's procedures related to this.
You will work closely with the Emergency Department (ED), ensuring that there are effective incident management procedures in place and an on-going emergency preparedness training programme for all members of staff in the department.
Main duties of the job
To develop, implement and maintain emergency plans and guidance relating to Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRNe) events.
To maintain stocklists of equipment and consumables held in the Major Incident and CBRN stores.
Maintain a current knowledge of legislation and policies relating to CBRNe, business continuity and EPRR.
Coordinate emergency preparedness and CBRN training for the ED. To include, arranging training dates and venues for the year, maintaining an annual training register, recording attendees on healthroster and preparing course documentation.
Maintain ED Major Incident/CBRNe staff training information and training shared files.
Review and update the training course content to meet current requirements and changes in NHS guidance and/or changes within the ED. Evaluate new equipment and treatments to improve patient care and provide training for this as required.
Develop and deliver table top exercises for the ED and wider Trust as required; supporting the delivery of the Trusts' live exercises.
