Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Occupational Therapist to work in a well-established, innovative team. The new Practice Development Lead role would require an individual with experience working in an acute environment as an Occupational Therapist and who has a passion for education and supporting staff members to provide high quality occupational therapy.
As an experienced Occupational Therapist, you would be responsible for facilitating and directing the education and development of Occupational Therapy junior staff and students, identify education opportunities for junior members of the Occupational Therapy team and work closely with the Occupational Therapy Team Leaders to provide education and training as required.
We currently offer rotations through a wide range of acute clinical areas which include Orthopaedics, Surgery and Oncology, Neurosciences, Major Trauma, Older Person's Care, Medical, Rheumatology, Hand Therapy and Pain and Stroke and Rehab.
Main duties of the job
- Responsibility for facilitating and directing the education and development of Occupational Therapy junior staff and students.
- Identify education opportunities for the junior staff including Band 5 and new Band 6 staff.
- Work closely with the Occupational Therapy managers to interlink operational and delivery needs with education and workforce development.
- Provide continuous assessment of the Occupational Therapy department education requirements and evaluation of programs delivered, alongside the clinical specialist team to demonstrate quality care is the ultimate outcome.
- Lead the coordination of student and apprentice placements.
- Work closely with the Team Leads to monitor and support progress of Occupational Therapy staff through gaining clinical and leadership skills.
- Continue to demonstrate and maintain excellent clinical skills in order to maintain relevant up-to-date practice.
- Promote the development and implementation of evidence based practice.
- Promote and assist the development of static / rotational posts within Occupational Therapy.
