Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic flexible and friendly administrator.

To deliver and maintain a professional administration/clerical and reception service to the Genomics Laboratory Hub and to all its users and colleagues.

Main duties of the job

To receive goods and supplies deliveries and ensuring relevant staff are informed of the arrival of such deliveries.

Update staff records using Healthroster (Trust electronic system) including payroll information for new starters, bank staff, overtime, sickness absence, HR forms, etc.

To support the operational requirements of the Genomics Laboratory

To organise meetings including booking rooms and AV equipment and to take accurate minutes of meetings.

Person Specification



  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent NVQ level 2 Customer Service/ Business Admin Or Equivalent professional experience


  • Secretarial qualification or equivalent



  • Experience of working in a busy office environment or reception role Experience of prioritising, planning and organising own tasks Working within guidelines Experience of customer service or dealing with the public Data entry Experience of IT packages - Microsoft Office


  • Previous experience of working in the NHS Experience of call handling Experience of dealing with difficult situations and confrontations



  • Understanding of confidentiality and data protection Understanding of customer service


  • Knowledge of the Trust including awareness of the Trust's priorities Knowledge of Trust information systems Knowledge of Medical Terminology
