Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join CUH Chaplaincy Service as a Team Chaplain. The aim of the service is to meet the deepest needs of the Trust and the patients, visitors and staff, through depth of heart, mind and soul.

The Trusts aims are to ensure that all of our patients have access to high quality care through holistic healthcare provision. Chaplaincy is located at the heart of CUH and utilising interdisciplinary co-production, you will ensure that we as a Trust have improved outcomes for our patients and visitors as well as the health and wellbeing of staff.

We are looking for an individual who has demonstrative experience of pastoral care in a healthcare Chaplaincy. You must be motivated with a clear passion for Chaplaincy and reflective practice central to your professional life.

Main duties of the job

  • To assess the spiritual and religious needs of patients, visitors and staff and seek to meet those needs or refer on.
  • To work within the protocols and practices of the chaplaincy department
  • To participate in regular reflective practice.
  • Initiate service development and audit
  • Contribute to education and training within the hospital
  • Proactively participates in multidisciplinary teams

All members of the department are expected to participate fully as team members, working collaboratively to achieve a person centred, pastorally responsive ministry in the complex and demanding environment of Addenbrookes Hospital.

It also become identified for its capacity to hold the emotional space for teams and clinicians during critical events, so that they can fulfil their roles most effectively.

This post is subject to a satisfactory DBS clearance and as a result, you will be required to pay the associated fee of £40.00. This fee will be deducted from your second months salary.

  • oDegree in theology or equivalent oAppropriate church / theological / philosophical training oThe post is open to Ordained clergy of the Church of England and those in good standing with member churches of the Free Churches group or the equivalent of that person's belief group

  • oExperience of providing spiritual and pastoral care to a diverse population oExperience of working with people of different faiths, those with a life limiting illness and the bereaved oExperience of working with those experiencing trauma oTeam working oProven record of sustained pastoral experience
