Job summary

Following expansion of critical care services at Cambridge University Hospitals, we have increased the established posts within the critical care pharmacy and are looking for enthusiastic pharmacists to join the team. The Pharmacy Department is ambitious, forward thinking, aspiring to excellence in clinical pharmacy careers.

Our band 7 pharmacists are predominantly ward based, including a rotational program across adult critical care areas. You will become an integrated member of the multi-professional team.

When working at weekends contributing to our seven day service you will be predominantly based in critical care or the emergency department. This ensures follow up of the most unwell patients in the hospital putting the patient at the heart of what we do.

We are keen to develop all eligible pharmacists as independent prescribers. A well-established clinical pharmacy forum is in place, aimed specifically at our band 7 pharmacists.

Main duties of the job

To provide an advanced clinical pharmacy service to ward(s) within specialist area of critical care.

To deliver designated performance objectives specific to the allocated area(s).

Essential

  • 1.Masters level degree in pharmacy. Post-graduate preregistration year. 2.Registered with General Pharmaceutical Council. 3.Completed year 1 and year 2 of Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy/General Pharmacy Practice)*. Candidates with non UK/alternative qualifications will be requested to provide further details before shortlisting. These will include details of the course provider and a copy of the academic transcript. Information will be reviewed by our Education and Training team to assess suitability. Note: there is a requirement to undertake training in EPIC (electronic prescribing and medicines administration system; EPMA) and a competence assessment

Desirable

Documentation in medical notes. 4. Writing reports 5. Writing or assisting in writing drug policies and guidelines/PGD development. 6. Evidence of having conducted a clinical audit
