Job summary
Clinical Engineering is primarily concerned with providing repair, calibration and maintenance to a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic medical equipment in the Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. It is the responsibility of Clinical Engineering to ensure equipment operates effectively and safely with a minimum of downtime. Clinical equipment covered incorporates electrical, electronic, mechanical, computer software and medical gas systems.
This post is one of a number within the Medical Electronics Section of Clinical Engineering.
The Medical Electronics Section provides servicing and repair support to varied Patient support equipment including infusion devices, physiological monitors, ECG machines, electro-surgery devices, ultrasound machines and defibrillators. The section provides this support both internally within the hospital and on an external basis within the community services in the East of England region.
Main duties of the job
Under supervision the post holder will carry out electrical safety testing and routine maintenance on medical equipment in order to maintain standards and service delivery.
The post holder is required to work to extremely high standards of workmanship, safety and accountability within a quality management system.
The post holder liaises with clinical and technical staff to help identify faults, including working in all clinical areas and with manufacturers.
