Job summary
The Air Mattress Assistant/Driver plays a crucial role in ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and transportation of air mattresses within the hospital and between external locations.
This role involves cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining air mattresses to meet infection control standards while also managing their collection, transport, and delivery between West Suffolk Hospital, Colchester Hospital, and Ipswich Hospital.
The post holder must follow Standard Operating Procedures for air mattress cleaning and adhere to NHS infection control policies. Additionally, the role requires safe vehicle operation and timely deliveries to maintain hospital efficiency.
Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive delivery vehicle to customer locations, ensuring timely and safe deliveries.
- Assist with the packing and loading/unloading of equipment.
- Provide excellent customer service to clients during deliveries and pickups.
- Ensure all equipment is well-maintained and in good working condition.
- Handle any issues or customer queries in a professional manner.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs and inventory records.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Experience with driving large vehicles or delivery vans preferred.
- Ability to lift heavy items (air mattresses and equipment) and perform manual labour.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Basic knowledge of handling equipment or willingness to learn.
- Previous experience in a delivery or logistics role is a plus.
