Job summary

We are seeking Band 6 Bereavement Midwife, who are committed to providing high quality bereavement care, to join our dedicated healthcare team at West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust.

The aim of this role is to support the Bereavement Lead Midwife to ensure that there is a coordinated approach to providing seamless bereavement care support to women/birthing people and their families.

The Bereavement Support Midwife will support the Bereavement Lead Midwife in the provision of care, support and practical advice to staff, women and their families experiencing pregnancy loss and the death of a baby.

The Bereavement Support Midwife will assist the Bereavement Lead Midwife in the delivery of an education programme around baby loss and bereavement care and support to all health professionals.

You will work as part of our friendly team, providing care to bereaved families in the West Suffolk area.

You will be provided with an induction programme and full training to fulfil the role requirements.

Main duties of the job

Provide effective clinical leadership and support to all midwives, neonatal staff and students around bereavement support

To support the delivery of a high-quality bereavement support service to women and their families following pregnancy loss or baby death.

To participate in the development and implementation of policies, guidelines, and patient information.

Support staff in meeting the standards of care for the provision of information and practical advice to parents experiencing termination of pregnancy for fetal anomaly, stillbirth, and neonatal death.

To stand-in, as appropriate, for the Bereavement Lead

To ensure families are given information on national and local bereavement charities and support organisation

To support the delivery of bereavement training and education programme to inform all staff within the multi-disciplinary team of current best practice in bereavement care.
