Job summary

The opportunity has arisen for a part time band 6 to cover the in-patient interim beds as part of the Community Assessment Beds team at West Suffolk . These community assessment beds provide ongoing assessment for patients following an inpatient admission at the acute hospital, or occasionally as admissions directly from the community. You would work within the multidisciplinary team at care home and CAB sites across West Suffolk to help those transitioning from an acute environment to being discharged home.

We will offer the successful candidates the opportunity to broaden their clinical practice, knowledge and skills with using evidence-based practice to ensure the quality of service delivery meets the requirements of the patients and service. The post holder will support occupational therapy apprentice and other students as part of our wider programme. Promoting the role of occupational therapy within the Trust, and more widely is an essential part of the role.The occupational therapy department is part of Integrated Therapy Services, and forms part of the wider West Suffolk Alliance. We are committed to professional development and evidence-based practice. This is demonstrated through training opportunities, service improvements and expanding our roles across primary care, non-statutory sector, community, and secondary care with new initiatives to improve the service and outcomes for our local population. This post may involve some weekend working in the future.

Main duties of the job

This post is suitable for a senior band 6 level where the post holder enjoys working as part of a team and autonomous work. The position would suit a confident and motivated person who enjoys working holistically. You will benefit from working in a supportive CAB team, department and NHS Trust that advocates continuous improvement and training to help develop our staff. You will be provided with regular supervision from an experienced clinical specialist occupational therapist.
